My Sucky Job

August 19th, 2007 by fongjackie

I hate my job, I really do.. I feel like the company is taking so much advantage of its employees, it’s driving everyone absolutely mad. It’s not as if we don’t work hard enough, cos we work averagely eleven to twelve hours per day, but it’s just never enough for the company. It just intends to “squeeze till you dry out”. After going through all that stress from work, I was really looking forward for the long weekend during the Merdeka week. I’ve really been working so much and so hard all these while, I was dying for a break. I was totally excited about the break until the company declared that we have to work full shift including Saturdays and Sundays till 2nd of September in our new store which is officially opening this week. The company just loves utilising its free man power during public holidays and had never ever intended to pay a single cent to compensate us. It annoys me a lot as we are doing this as a favour for the company, and yet the company would put it in a way that if you don’t turn up to help, you will surely have a hard time during the “bonus and increment period”. I remember the most sucking experience was during Christmas 2005, where most of us were sent to

Penang

to help out for a new store opening. It really felt so bad having to be away on Christmas Day and Christmas Eve!

But at least back then I had a really understanding boss who doesn’t bother me too much. He had never ever called me over the weekend either. He was the sweetest boss I ever had. But even since I transferred to this new department, I’m having so much headache and stress over the weekends. My boss just tends to call or sms me to discuss about business, which is not even important. It’s not as if I could get something done over the weekend even though I am informed about it, so what’s the point of bothering me anyway? It really gets on my nerves. Sometimes I feel like replying him “Would you die if you wait till Monday to tell me about this?” I mean, when the issue not really top urgent, it’s just so inconsiderate to be calling about business when Saturdays and Sundays are my official rest days. I have other things to worry about over my weekends, so is it really too much to ask to leave me alone just for that 48 hours? I got really annoyed on the weekend where I came back from my

UK

trip, he made me travel to Johor for a farm visit, without any prior notice. I had to attend my church anniversary dinner that same evening so I told him I couldn’t make it. I thought he would understand as he is a Christian too. But no, he asked me to go in the morning, where I had to get up at 3:45am that day, and rush back to KL in the evening.

I’m hoping to leave this job soon, cos it’s just too stressful for me. My manager is currently pregnant and she’ll be off for her maternity leave in November. My boss promised to hire someone to assist me in running the department, but so far, there was no action taken at all. This job really sucks! For those who know which company I work for, then I’m warning you now, please don’t ever apply for a job here. You will definitely regret it!

Chocolate Thief

Lock your drawers when you’re not around! Yes, LOCK YOUR DRAWERS!

After 9 days of Chinese New Year break, I started work again on Monday. Everything seems to look normal in my cubicle, well apart from my plant which looks a bit dry. But I suppose after 9 days without having any water, it’s only normal that the plant looks dry.

Ok, that doesn’t bother me much anyway. Instead, I was really shocked that someone has been going through my drawers when I was away. My new box of chocolate was opened and eaten; and having chocolate wrappers left on top my CPU which was underneath my desk! I went totally crazy, looking everywhere for the culprit who did this… I asked all my neighbours who came to work during the CNY period, but no one witnessed anything…

The thing is I really don’t mind at all if my colleagues were taking food from my desk, but man, not going through my drawers! There are so many personal stuff in my drawers… my pay slip, bank statement, bible, letters, etc… Now everyone is gonna know how much I’m earning or how much I have in the bank or even other personal stuff..

That’s why I’m telling you, LOCK YOUR DRAWERS when you’re not around! Even if it’s only a one-hour lunch break! LOCK THEM!!!

My suprise birthday party

February 20th, 2007 by fongjackie

It was Valentine’s day and I didn’t wanna go anywhere since I am single and since traffic would have been terrible everywhere in KL. Having to get home from work has already been a huge problem as traffic has backed up all the way at Jalan Duta. Bumper to bumper crawl has really made me an impatient driver that evening. Therefore, I strongly insist on staying home watching tv during Valentine’s.

Hong Liang called that afternoon for urgent help in his Spanish coursework and needed to come over in the evening to discuss on it. I invited him over since his work needed to be handed in the following day. He came by at around eight and we started working on his coursework. Everything was going rather smooth but he then told me he had forgotton something in car and needed to go downstairs to grab it.

Ten minutes later, my door bell rang and as I opened the door I saw him holding a cake, with everyone else in front of my door greeting me happy birthday. I was totally shocked and extremely touched by all the effort they put in to organise a suprise party for me. It really was a warm and wonderful feeling.

Hong Liang, Ian, Lam, Susie, Joshua, Joyce, Kok Leong, Prakash and Winnie… I don’t know if anyone of you would read my blog, but I really wanna thank you so much for the suprise party and everything! I have been so blessed knowing all of you guys and I thank God all time for having friends like you.

I never had a suprise party in my life before, and this would be something special I’ll always remember.

Was it really Gravity???

February 7th, 2007 by fongjackie

After getting home from church on a lazy Sunday afternoon, having nothing much to do, I weighed myself and really can’t believe that I’ve put on a kilo of weight when I wasn’t even eating much all these while… Oh well, life sucks when this happens..

Anyway, a friend then dropped by later in the afternoon, and I just couldn’t help complaining about it. He sent me a funny and rather interesting sms later at night which goes something like this: "Do you know that the gravity is actually stronger today, so that’s why you’re 1kg heavier than usual. If you don’t believe me, then try to make an egg stand.."

Well well, wether it is true or not, it doesn’t really matter, cos I really like the idea of blaming everything on the gravity! I’m sure that during the Chinese New Year period, the gravity is gonna get so much stronger than usual, that it’s fine to gain more weight! Hehe~!
